Learning Support

Learning Support run intervention programmes in morning form times and after school for specific pupils .

These are run with two Learning Support Assistants and the groups are kept to a small number of students.

These sessions are designed to meet specific needs of pupils as identified in internal or external assessments. The interventions and progress made by pupils are reviewed every term, so that adjustments can be made.

The Learning Support Department organises and runs literacy interventions during school time (on a rota) for students identified by the SENCO based on their attainment.

Literacy Support lessons in Key Stage 3 are planned to directly support their English curriculum as well as building on their basic Literacy skills which are needed in all National Curriculum subjects.

In Key Stage 4, students have an option of a reduced curriculum where they work with teachers on developing their independent learning and revision skills for their GCSE studies.
