Green Careers Week 2024

Green Careers Week is a fantastic new initiative launched in 2022 and we were thrilled to fully support it again this year.

Green Careers Week was the week of 4th and 10th November 2024. Its aim is to provide young people with an insight into careers that specifically protect the environment and will help the UK achieve its pledge of reaching Net Zero by 2050. Green Careers Week is an exciting event that raises aspiration, supports diversity, challenges stereotypes, and promotes real opportunities for young people to have a career that will genuinely make a difference.

This year, our students timetabled PSHEE lesson targeted different strengths and skills when it comes to green careers.

  • Year 7 looked at strengths, skills and attributes needed for successful careers, from the Environment Agency.
  • Year 8 looked at setting goals at work from the Environment Agency.
  • Year 9 looked at workplace skills from the Environment Agency.
  • Year 10 had a careers talk from Ryan Air Engineering Training Academy about the careers available in aircraft maintenance and about how they are making air travel more environmentally friendly.
  • Year 11 looked at making a difference when exploring their career choices, from the Environment Agency.
  • Year 12 and 13 looked at the many green degrees there are to choose from, together with the green career pathways and career options, while also looking at the Governments Sustainable Development Goals.
