Mentoring
As a school, St. Mary’s is dedicated to ensuring that we offer the best pastoral care possible for all of our young people within our school community.
Part of this pastoral care, on occasions, may consist of 1:1 mentoring support to help students with any specific social or emotional needs.
The support is led by a member of our Pastoral Team and focuses on helping students to develop resilience and coping strategies when facing challenging times. It consists of 20 minutes per week with a longstanding member of staff via Zoom in a confidential space within the school. Mrs Carroll can support with revision, organisation, wellbeing, friendships and more.
Students receive an email on Monday evenings, and a slip before their appointment.
Mentoring can continue until the student, Mrs Carroll or the Mental Health Team feel that the sessions can end. Parents will be advised of this by Miss Saunders.
If parents would like mentoring support for their child, they should contact their child’s Head of Year to explain the difficulties their child is experiencing. This information will be shared with the school’s Mental Health team. A member of the team will contact the parent to discuss the concerns and outline the support available.
