Super-curricular, Extra-Curricular and Enrichment Opportunities

St Mary’s Catholic School Sixth Form places great value on ensuring that each student has the opportunity to develop new interests, undertake leadership responsibilities within the school community, as well as learn new skills. We offer a diverse enrichment programme, including activities such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), Student Chaplaincy Team, Duke of Edinburgh scheme as examples.

All Sixth Form students have the opportunity to act as peer mentors for younger students, as well as leadership opportunities through the House System and Student Leadership Team.

Student Leadership

We expect all Sixth Formers to serve as role models and to contribute to the smooth running of the School by carrying out important duties. We have a team of Head Pupils and Senior Prefects who represent the School at key events and coordinate the actions of other prefects.

Journey in Faith

At the heart of everything we do is our shared Catholic Faith. For sixth formers, we continue to provide whole school services and weekly assemblies. Each morning starts with a prayer and a reflective passage. We have a chaplain who coordinates a programme of yeargroup Masses, retreats and pilgrimages. We are particularly proud of our work for the common good and our call to serve others. Our Sixth Form students are responsible for leading the whole school Christmas Charity drive for the Cardinal Hume Centre and the Passage homeless shelter within our diocese. They are also our student ambassadors with our annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes with Across during Easter.
