Here are some of the events that the SMA will be running:

Midsummer Ball now moved from June to "The Winter Ball" Saturday 27th November 2010, Bishops Stortford Golf Club, Details on Events page

About the Friends of St Mary's

Our role as a Governing Body is to ensure that the school management, teachers and all support staff have the resources to continue to deliver high standards of educational achievement. We have a five year Strategic Plan and an annual Development Plan (both revised annually) to ensure that we not only maintain the long established traditions of success at St Mary’s but build on the unstinting efforts of our predecessors who built what we have today.

Long gone are the days when schools could expect 100% grants to undertake such capital work. The onus is now placed upon voluntary-aided schools to find a large proportion of funding new capital projects (with the option to borrow in appropriate circumstances). In this regard the Governors established in 1996 a charitable trust, “The Friends of St Mary’s” The sole objective of the Trust is to raise funds for capital projects for the benefit of St Mary’s.

As parents, if we want to see a continuation of Christian secondary education for our children (and by selecting St Mary’s this is what we have chosen) then we have to face up to the reality that as part of the voluntary aided sector there is a price to pay if we wish to continue that right.

The SMA’s work is very rewarding and a lot of fun, so if you would like to share some of your time and skills with us, we very much look forward to welcoming you at the AGM and hope that you might join the SMA. Feel free to make any fund raising suggestions or comments, we welcome new ideas.

THANK YOU to all who supported these events and to all our loyal parents and their friends and students who volunteered on the day to help run the Motor Show
