MP Mark Prisk's visit to St. Mary's

On the 15th February, St Mary’s Catholic School had the pleasure of hosting a visit from Mr Mark Prisk, MP.  Mr Celano invited the long-standing friend of the school to meet with Government and Politics students to enable them to ask him questions about his role in Government and current issues.  They enjoyed a lively discussion about University Tuition Fees, ISIS supporters returning to the UK, the First Past the Post System, Brexit and many other contentious issues.

Whilst on a tour of the School, Mr Mark Prisk took the opportunity to visit some of the £5m refurbishment blocks, and enjoyed seeing the work from students in Art, Science and Maths. Mr Prisk was accompanied on his tour by Headteacher Mr Celano, Director of Sixth Form Miss Workman and the Head Pupils.

Mr Prisk congratulated St. Mary’s on their high achieving GCSE and A Level results which place the school in the top 8% nationally. Mr Celano commented “Mr Prisk was very complimentary about our school – our students and staff – and it was a pleasure to host him again.  In particular, I was most impressed to see our Government and Politics students rising to the challenge of posing some very searching questions on topical issues, not just Brexit!”.
