St Mary's plays host to a number of events each year the biggest of which is the Classic Car Show.
"WHEEL MEET AGAIN" Motor Show
2011’s Motor Show was yet again blessed with good weather. It was an action packed day. There were over eighteen local car dealerships including Mercedes Benz, Ford and Chrysler, who took their forecourts to the show, with visitors able to compare makes and models on site and take advantage of special promotions and deals There was also the opportunity to pick up customised and spare parts, while free driving lessons and simulators proved popular with learners.
Now in it’s thirteenth year the Motor Show is a definite date for your calendar. Held in the grounds of St Mary’s Catholic School, Windhill , there was a huge turnout of car enthusiasts and motor-mad families this year. Hundreds of vintage and classic cars of all makes and models turned up to capacity crowds. One of the highlights was a motorcade as the vehicles were paraded in the main arena, while TV broadcaster and Henham resident Jason Barlow, editor-at large of Top Gear magazine, was on hand to help steer the show’s judging panel. Trophies were awarded for the best in show, best motorcycle, best American vehicle and best utility.
There were many attractions for the younger children such as children’s rides, face painting, bouncy castles ,bungee jumps and sumo wrestling. Details of next years Motor Show will be available in due course for 2012 by accessing www.stmarysmotorshow.co.uk .
